PENSACOLA, Fla. — A downtown Pensacola altercation escalated into a shooting early Sunday morning, leaving five people injured and resulting in the arrest of a 25-year-old man on multiple felony charges, according to the Pensacola Police Department.

Police identified the suspect as Ramadhani Richardson, who was taken into custody following the incident at the intersection of Palafox Place and Intendencia Street, one of downtown Pensacola’s busiest entertainment districts. Richardson has been charged with five counts of aggravated battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharging a firearm within a municipality, and an out-of-state warrant.

According to investigators, officers were called to the area at approximately 1:00 a.m. after a physical dispute broke out in the roadway. Police said Richardson allegedly struck one person in the head with a glass bottle before drawing a firearm and firing multiple shots into a group of people. One victim was struck in the leg by gunfire, while several others sustained injuries from bullet fragments or shrapnel during the shooting.

Emergency medical personnel responded alongside police and treated the victims at the scene before they were transported for further medical evaluation. Authorities said all five victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the shooting, officers secured the intersection of Palafox Place and Intendencia Street while detectives processed the crime scene, collected forensic evidence, and interviewed witnesses. Investigators also reviewed surveillance footage from nearby businesses as part of their effort to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine what led to the violence.

Richardson was booked into the Escambia County Jail, where he was ordered held without bond, according to jail records. Authorities have not indicated whether additional arrests are expected, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The incident occurred during a busy overnight period in downtown Pensacola, an area known for its restaurants, bars, and nightlife. Police have not released additional information regarding the motive behind the altercation but continue to encourage anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant cellphone or surveillance footage to contact investigators as the case progresses.
