Authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Tuesday night in Atlantic Beach, Florida, leaving one man dead and prompting a homicide investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies. The incident has shocked the local community as detectives work to determine the events that led to the deadly altercation inside a residence.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO), officers with the Atlantic Beach Police Department responded at approximately 9:08 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, to the 1300 block of Rose Street, just south of Levy Road and off the Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway, after receiving reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they discovered an adult man suffering from a stab wound to the chest. Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have not yet publicly released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.

Preliminary information released by investigators indicates the stabbing occurred during an argument inside the residence.
