According to the Lake County Sheriffโs Office, deputies received a report at approximately 11:13 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, after a body was spotted on the rocks at the bottom of the cliff at Palisade Head, one of Minnesotaโs most recognizable scenic overlooks along the North Shore of Lake Superior. Rescue personnel, including members of the Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit and Lake County Rescue Squad, responded to the scene and carried out a recovery operation in the rugged terrain.
Authorities later identified the deceased as Michael Morse, 64, of Duluth. His identity was released after appropriate notifications were made.
