The Central Florida community is mourning the tragic loss of Christopher Marier, 42, and his brother, Tyler Marier, 40, who were killed in a devastating two-vehicle crash in Casselberry after an SUV driven by a fleeing suspect slammed into their vehicle on U.S. Highway 17-92. The sudden deaths have left family members, friends, and loved ones grieving two lives taken far too soon in a tragedy that has shaken the Seminole County community.
According to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal collision occurred shortly after noon on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, near the intersection of U.S. Highway 17-92 and Sunnytown Road. Investigators said deputies initially attempted to stop a vehicle driven by a suspected fentanyl trafficker near State Road 417. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated southbound on Highway 17-92, reportedly reaching speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. Out of concern for public safety, deputies discontinued any ground pursuit while continuing to monitor the suspect’s movements with the agency’s aviation unit.
Authorities said the fleeing SUV ultimately collided with the vehicle occupied by Christopher and Tyler Marier near Sunnytown Road. Both brothers suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead as a result of the crash. Emergency responders closed the southbound lanes of Highway 17-92 for several hours while firefighters, paramedics, and crash investigators worked at the scene and documented evidence.
The suspected driver, identified by investigators as Marquavious Tayvon Wheaton, was taken into custody after the collision and transported to a hospital for treatment. The Casselberry Police Department has confirmed the incident is being investigated as a traffic homicide, while additional criminal charges are expected as the investigation continues. Authorities have not indicated that Christopher or Tyler Marier played any role in the events leading up to the collision.

Friends, relatives, and neighbors have shared heartfelt condolences while remembering Christopher and Tyler for the relationships they built and the lives they touched. Their sudden passing has left an immeasurable void for those who knew them, with many expressing disbelief that an ordinary day ended in such a devastating tragedy.
