The accident happened at approximately 5:30 p.m. near the boat ramp at MacIntosh Woods State Park in Cerro Gordo County. Five people were involved in the crash, including four minors, and all were transported to MercyOne Medical Center in Mason City for medical treatment.

According to officials, the 14-year-old girl was riding as a passenger on one of the watercraft when the collision occurred. A 15-year-old girl from Mason City was also transferred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she remained in serious condition, while three other individuals were treated and released.
